Gerlinde Keating - Fine Artist
Gerlinde Keating's passion for photography began early in life. She was twelve years old when she received her first camera and realized that the camera was a powerful story telling tool.
Her photographs show that natural beauty can be discovered anywhere the eyes travel. GK’s innovative style often pushes the limits of conventional photography. She embraces every technique that will aid in achieving her vision. Her extraordinary fusion of line and color creates illusions that stimulate the imaginative soul in all of us.
Her unique artistic images are a combination of traditional photography, digital technology and a reflection of her interest in modern art.
She says: “… Whenever I create digital art, I start with a blank canvas or with a photograph I have taken. After I’ve looked at the image for a moment my imagination takes over. I use various digital techniques until I have achieved an abstract rendition and composition I am satisfied with. It is almost like a voyage of discovery.
As a photographer I like to capture the beauty of nature. I hope that my work will make people momentarily escape reality and appreciate the natural wonders that our world surrounds us with. Our hectic lifestyle often prevents us from noticing them…”
She participated in the international photo competition Prix de la Photographie – Paris, France and was awarded Third Prize in the Fine Art category for her picture “Leaves”. Prix de la Photographie is juried by top international decision-makers in the photography industry.
Over the years Gerlinde Keating has won several awards in international competitions which all were juried by top international decision makers in the Art and Photography Industry.
In the 4th Annual Photography Masters Cup Competition Gerlinde Keating won the Nominee title in the category of Wildlife at a prestigious Nomination & Winners Photo Show attended by over 40,000 online viewers who logged on live from 154 countries to see the climax of the industry's most important event for color photography.
'The Masters Cup celebrates photographers who operate at the highest levels of their craft,' said Basil O'Brien, the awards Creative Director. “Gerlinde Keating's work represents contemporary color photography at its finest, and we're pleased to present her with the title of Nominee.'
Gerlinde Keating is a Graduate of the New York Institute of Photography, America’s oldest and largest Photography School which was founded in 1910.
