Calvin Carter - Fine Artist
Carter has been drawn to art as long as he can remember. His art began with an effort to portray his love for fishing and hunting along the Texas coast. His art has now grown to portray other subjects as well, including the human figure in portraits, figurative work and spiritual surroundings. In his spiritual work, Carter takes Southern religious ideas uses them to tell stories about who he is and the way he was raised as a child in the South. Carter creates his art through his expression and carefully uses his subject matter to create impact. Calvin Carter is a teacher as well as an artist. he is currently and art instructor at West Sabine High School in Pineland Texas and teaches children's summer art camps in Beaumont and Jasper Texas. Reflecting the philosophy of his own work, Carter's goal is to teach his students to create at using their own experiences and to make a personal statement through their artwork. Carter has recently returned to wildlife and sporting art to go back to those child hood days of when he first started drawing. I Received 3rd place in Texas Ducks Unlimited Artist of the yearo competition in 2011 and I have art work in a gallery in Houston Texas by the name of Hacko Gallery that is operated by Butch Kissman (713)-686-2020. I also have another website with my artwork on it, www.calvincarterart.com
