I was born and raised in the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. I was raised on a farm in a small town named Aguada. My father used to teach my siblings and I all kinds of interesting things related to art. Like to play the guitar and other king of musical instruments (guiro, maracas, etc.). He also taught us to drive the jeep and tractors and to ride horses and work on the farm.
My sisters and I would make people from clay or mud and used them as dolls. I used to always help my mother saw and embroider, and at the same time I learned to make dresses for my sisters. Making the school uniforms for my classmates was something I enjoyed very much. I was always an artistic person as well as some of my sisters and nieces. Now there is a few artists in the family.
Who inspired me to start painting oils was a very dear friend. I saw her paintings, and I said to her 'I would like to start doing what you do.' She told me to come with her to a class. From that day on, (8 years ago) I have been painting oils and I enjooyed it very much. I did not attend classes for too long, because it came to me naturally. I am planning to teach myself how to paint acrylics and water colors.
Art is in the deepest of my soul. I can express what is beautiful and significan to me.
